No-ImageThis Saturday the Corozal Town Council will hold another municipal bazaar which provides local businesses the opportunity to attract sales through special deals for customers. The initiative, commenced by Councillor Hilberto Clarke, has picked up interest in town. Normally, it was held on Fridays, but the Council is moving it to Saturdays to get more business participation. We spoke to Mayor Vellos on the event and how it impacts the local economy.

Mayor Rigo Vellos – Corozal Town Council

“We did switch the municipal bazaar from Friday to Saturday we believe and I am sure that we should make a huge difference and a huge impact for people who come out and buy and for the different businesses who come out and give their services and who sale their products. We know it’s a Saturday people have more time especially the working class people they will be free on Saturday apart from that its right after payday of the month and I am sure that the different businesses will have a lot of deals out there to give out and the community need to take advantage of it and its only once a month and its only a way that the Corozal Town Council finds so that the people can come out and have their stuff that they need and that way the business community also makes their money and the economy will flow a little bit better in the town and we want to encourage people to do their shopping here, here in Belize, here in Corozal Town you know we need to realize that going to Chetumal still comes out a bit expensive, the fuel and you need to pay the taxes that the different businesses have so lets support our local economy, our local business, our local people and its time for us to lean on one another and to support one another and the one thing we could do coming out to the municipal bazaar on Saturday and get all the different deals that the business community out there.”
