Four men have been jointly charged by Orange Walk Police for possession of drugs with intent to supply after authorities came across over a thousand grams of cannabis inside the vehicle they were traveling in. The group of men including the driver of the vehicle, thirty-eight-year-old Corozal resident, Nestor Chimal, along with thirty-five-year-old Claudel Stephenson, a resident of Otro Benque Road here in Orange Walk Town, thirty-eight-year-old Tyrone Broaster and twenty-two-year-old Clinton Allen, both of a Belize City address… were apprehended by police at about 10:00 p.m. on Saturday night, whilst passing through a routine vehicular check point near the Toll Bridge.
A search for illegal drugs and firearm was conducted where a camouflage schoolbag was discovered containing four parcels of suspected cannabis. Additional searches also led to the discovery of 110 packs of cigarettes inside a hidden compartment.
Today Head of the National Crime Investigations Branch, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Joseph Myvette, indicated that while the men have been charged by police in relation to the cannabis, the Customs and Excise Department is looking into the issue of uncustomed goods.

“A red Ford F-150 pick up approach the check point when at the time being driven by one Nestor Chimal, 38 years of age of a Corozal Town address. He was accompanied by three other males persons namely Claudeth Stevenson, 35 years of an Orange Walk Town address, Tyrone Broaster of a Belize City address and he is 38 years and Clinton Allen 22 years of a Belize City address as a result police indicated to the driver that they would conduct a search on the vehicle and in so doing police discovered a snap sack beneath the driver’s seat that contained four parcels of suspected cannabis which when weight amounted to 1254.9 grams and also found in a hidden compartment within the vehicle was 110 packs of cigarettes and as a result those persons were taken to the Orange Walk police station where they were processed and later charged for the cannabis which is they were charged for possession with intent to supply in relation to the cannabis whilst the Customs Department is dealing with the part relating to the cigarettes.”
Myvette further stated that one of the four men is known to police for drug peddling.
