NoImageCorozal Police has served notices of intended prosecution to two drivers who were involved in a serious traffic collision on Sunday afternoon at the Tumbayito curve along the Phillip Goldson Highway, located between miles 86 and 87.

The Police were called out to the area where they observed two vehicles with extensive damages.

Preliminary investigation indicates that a blue Dodge Caravan van traveling in the direction of the northern border was driven by Nelson Hernandez, a watchman from Santa Elena Road in the Corozal District, and a grey Toyota Hilux heading in the opposite direction was driven by 43 year old Byron Castellanos, an American national residing in Benque Viejo del Carmen in the Cayo District.

Travelling at the time with Catellaos were 19 year old Erica Guzman, 18 year old Emogena Walton and 34 year old Yvette Brambley.

Castellanos reportedly lost control of his vehicle and collided into the van causing it to flip and sustain major damages.

Castellanos’ passengers sustained injuries and were rushed to the Corozal Community Hospital for medical attention.

Corozal Police continue to investigate the incident.
