It has been one week since the village council elections took place in the village of San Jose here in the Orange Walk District where the PUP slate won all seven seats and today was the official swearing in ceremony of the team. And with only hours of being sworn in as the new village council, Chairlady Edilberta Ramirez and her team are already faced with some challenges. Following the swearing in the newly elected council was to receive all assets of the village from the previous administration as is per procedure, that handing over however did not go as planned sparking some tensions at the Multipurpose complex within the village. Our news team stopped by the village late this evening where the chairlady told us more.
Edilberta Ramirez- Chairlady- San Jose
“It was a hot tension because I think my community San Jose is not happy with the results they had and about the handing over, the swearing was ok but the handing over was the problem because some of the assets we were suppose to get for our community was not there and it was unclear and that is why we ask that it need to be postponed for a later date and I think my community of San Jose they deserve that because I think we are representing the community of San Jose so we need that to be cleared up so we can continue with the process. We were looking at the figures and we see that they had a lot of expenses that we see they are not too clear to the community of San Jose and I think that the previous council should have some income that they can give us to start but we see that it has some problems figures are not clear and so we are not signing papers that is not so clear for us so we really need transparency because that is what our community needs transparency and that is why you see the people are over and they are asking for some clearance about the issue that is happening right now and I think the people deserve that because San Jose needs to see what was happening around with the previous administration and see they have more income than expenses coming in and I think as I said before our community deserves more than that explanation and I see only the chairman was present and the other councilors were not here and we are demanding that to be here so that they can clarify that the things needs to clarify.”
A meeting was set between the previous administration and the newly elected council for tomorrow morning to try and clarify matters.

“We went into an agreement and we said tomorrow seven o’clock we are going to have Mr. Osorio again and he is going to give it the second try and see what we will discuss because we need to see figures and see what is happening because we want to see what are all the expenses what are all the things are going on with our community and like I said we were not clear about the things that are happening and I think my community of San Jose they need that clearance so that they could happen and we will work for it and we will not be accepting anything with things that are coming up things that I think figures are not present for our community so that is way we will have it tomorrow seven o’clock and so we agreed with the previous administration and that is Mr. Edwin and he said he will have and invited Ms. Amish because I think she will be here tomorrow and hope things will be fix tomorrow. I just wish that figures will be there that we are going to have money because I think this community is a big community I think a lot of things were done and I think we will have a clear thing about what is happening with our revenues, I think revenues are not there but more expenses that we will have to be dealing with but we would like to see that monies will be there in our account and we will see what will happen tomorrow.”
