no_imagePolice corporal Kent Martinez is to be charged for manslaughter by negligence in the shooting death of Thirty-six-year-old Allyson Major. The ministry of National Security through a press release earlier today announced that the preliminary investigation into the shooting incident that caused the death of Alyson Major has concluded. According to the release, based on the directive of the Director of Public Prosecutions, Martinez is being charged for manslaughter by negligence.

Viewers may remember that Major, a former teacher was shot by police officers during a police chase that ended in the area of the Swing Bridge in Belize City earlier this month. Major was shot once to the head and died hours later while receiving treatment at the Karl Huesner Memorial Hospital. Following the incident four officers were placed on interdiction pending the conclusion of an investigation.
