noimageOver the weekend the second round of Village Council elections took place across the country. Here in the Orange Walk District the villages of Yo Creek and Tower Hill held elections. In Yo Creek the PUP slate won while in Tower Hill a UDP team was endorsed since the PUP did not challenge the election. In the Corozal District the UDP won all 8 villages that held elections including San Roman, Santa Clara, Lousiville, Chan Chen, Chunox, Progresso, Copper Bank and Patchakan. Of the forty six villages that held elections this past weekend the PUP is claiming victory in 22 villages while conceding 19 to the UDP. In a statement issued by the party, a breakdown of round two of the elections is made available. The figures show PUP having 155 elected councilors and the UDP 132.
