Screen_Shot_2019-06-05_at_8.15.03_PM_1Shock and complete disbelief spread throughout the entire country on Tuesday afternoon following a triple homicide which occurred inside a residence near mile ten on the George Price Highway. The bodies of forty-four-year-old Alarice Andrewin, the principal at Excelsior High School in Belize City, her roommate thirty-nine-year-old Vidal “Cacho” Yuman and his girlfriend nineteen-year-old Maria Juarez were discovered shortly after 3 o’clock inside this cement bungalow house belonging to Andrewin. Inside a bedroom, police found the three victims with their hands and feet bound with an extension cord. Reports indicate that Andrewin, was shot once to the head while Yuman, a naturalized Belizean and Juarez, a Guatemalan national, were shot to the back of the head. The perpetrator or perpetrators escaped with Andrewin’s 2015 grey Nissan Rogue.

This latest act of violence has left the entire Belizean population in shock and authorities working overtime trying to piece together the motive that lead to this chilling triple homicide.

Superintendent Hilberto Romero

“In regards of the triple murder that occurred yesterday the other two victims have been identified as Maria Juarez, 19 years Guatemalan national and Vidal Yuman, 39 years naturalized Belizean of Amara Avenue presently we have investigators on the ground following up on every lead, they are conducting interviews, recording statements and at this time I would like to appeal to the general public if they have any information that can assist us in this investigation you can call the 922 tips or you can call us and pass information we are following every lead and we have our investigator working on the ground as we speak.”

The gruesome and calculated manner in which this triple murder was executed is not something commonly seen in the Jewel and has left Belizeans concerned for their safety. Commissioner of Police Chester Williams however says that a special task force has been assigned to this case to ensure that no stones are left unturned.

Chester Special task force

“What we have done so far is that due to the nature of the investigation we believe that it requires a senior level investigation, Mr.Alejandro Cowo who you would know as the officer commanding CIB in Belize City has been assigned as the lead investigator in this case and the newly appointed deputy head national crimes investigation branch, Mr. Romero and as a matter of fact he is the acting CIB as this time because Mr. Myvette is on sick leave has been appointed as the case manager and myself as the commissioner will be overseeing the investigation as well and the investigation team comprises of elements from special Branch, the Anti Gang Task Force and personnel from Mr. Vidal’s office as well as from the FIU so basically we will put together a task force and they will be tasked specifically to pursue this investigation and they will be given no other task at this time until further notice we are determined to get to the bottom of this latest triple homicide it is something that really and truly caused the society to be uneasy and so we want to assure the public that as a police department we are doing what we need to do to restore that level of safety that they so rightly deserve.”
