Screen_Shot_2019-05-29_at_7.41.39_PMA husband and wife couple from San Narciso Village in the Corozal District lost their lives this afternoon when a tow head truck slammed into their Ford Ranger pickup truck between mile 72 and 73 on the Phillip Goldson Highway.

Shortly after 2 o’clock, 73 year old Audomaro Chan and his wife 71 year old Ramona Chan, were driving in the direction of Louisville from San Roman Village and were turning left towards the San Narciso polyclinic compound when an incoming tow head truck going in the direction of Orange Walk Town slammed into them.

The impact was brutal and the result was this mangled scene of metal. The front of the tow head truck was nearly wrenched off, but it could not compare to the destruction seen on the Ford Ranger pickup. The towhead literally carved its way deep into the side of the pickup truck, from the passenger side.

Ramona Chan was on the passenger side and she took the brunt of the impact. Her motionless body had to be carefully removed out of the pickup truck.

Audomaro Chan survived and was rushed to the Corozal Community Hospital. He was being transferred to Belize City for emergency treatment when he passed away just minutes after.

Corozal Traffic Police and Transport officials were on the scene carrying out an investigation. A statement was taken from the driver 34 year old Eric Ermoff of the tow head truck, and a Notice of Intended Prosecution was served on him pending further investigations.
