gasTonight, there is a bit of good news for Belizean consumers as GOB announced a minimal decrease in the price for Diesel at the pumps.

The decrease will come into effect today at midnight and will see a deduction of twenty-two cents. Here in Orange Walk Town the decrease will drive the price for Diesel from ten dollars and eighty-four cents to ten dollars and sixty-two cents.

The pump prices of Premium and Regular Gasoline, as well as Kerosene Oil, will remain unchanged.

According to a press release issued by GOB, this latest decrease, the third since the start of the year, came about as the order for this shipment was placed some weeks ago when world oil prices were in moderate decline.

Belizeans should however expect this decrease to be short-lived as oil prices are again on the increase due to tensions in the Middle East and interruption of some tanker shipping in the Arabian Sea, according to GOB.

The Government promises to continue monitoring the situation very closely and will remain engaged with PUMA and other stakeholders involved in the local supply chain to work out ways to keep prices in check as much as possible.
