Screen_Shot_2018-07-09_at_7.57.26_PMAlso arraigned at the Magistrate’s Court today was known city figure Samuel Halliday, who turned 26 years old just three days ago. Halliday is the second man to be charged for the brazen armed robbery of Courts store located on 5th Avenue, which occurred on June 1st in Corozal Town.

Halliday, who told the court that he works as a construction worker, pleaded not guilty to the charge. Magistrate Patricia Arana indicated that she would deny bail at this first instance, and remanded Halliday to the Kolbe Correctional Facility until July 23rd when he and the 17 year old who has already been arraigned for the same crime on June 8th, will return to Court.

Halliday and the minor are accused of taking $5,738.90 from the store, after holding up Courts employees at gun point.

It is believed that a third individual who drove an awaiting Mazda Tribute SUV which was used to escape, is also involved. The vehicle was found later that day at an abandoned field near Cristo Rey Village. The owner of the vehicle has been identified as Bryan Martinez of Corozal Town and Martinez is sought by the Police as a person of interest.

As we indicated, Halliday is no stranger to the Police and the courts. A search of the news archives show that he has been detained for numerous burglaries over the years. In November 2011, when he was 19 years old he was charged along with four others for the burglary of Gadgets electronics store in Belize City in which over $73,000 in goods were taken. In June 2012, he was back in the news when he was charged for the burglary of a Lord’s Bank home where nearly $4,500 in personal items were taken. In May 2013, he was the victim of a shooting on Vernon Street in Belize City.
