Screen_Shot_2018-05-08_at_7.57.15_PMYesterday we reported on the brazen armed robbery of China Store, a supermarket located on 7th Avenue in Corozal Town. The business establishment was targeted by a male individual just after 3pm on Saturday. While the male Chinese owner stood behind the cashier and chatted with a customer, the assailant arrived riding a bicycle and strolled into the store with his face covered with a mask and with what appeared to be a firearm in his hand.

Surveillance video inside the store shows the gunman pointing the weapon at the store-owner, and then reaching over the counter to grab money from the cash drawer. He then calmly walks out of the store, jumps on his bicycle and rides away. This robbery took 30 seconds.

Quick Police work has led to the arrest of 28 year old Anthony Alexander Patnett, a Belizean employed as a firefighter at the Corozal Free Zone. Patnett was charged for the armed robbery and today he appeared at the Magistrate’s Court where he pleaded guilty to the crime. The Magistrate deferred sentencing for tomorrow and we will have an update in tomorrow’s newscast.
