Screen_Shot_2018-01-08_at_8.01.27_PMThe family of twenty eight year old Shakira Villanueva is preparing to lay her to rest after she was knocked down last week on the night of Wednesday, January 3rd, 2018 in the village of Guinea Grass where she resided. Villanueva had left home shortly before 9:00 p.m. to run an errand but never made it back home because as she was walking along the principal road of Guinea Grass located at the entrance of the village, she was hit by a red Isuzu pickup truck as she attempted to cross the road.

Due to the extent of her injuries, the twenty eight year old was rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where she had to undergo surgery due to brain hemorrhage, and was later admitted in the Intensive Care Unit where she was placed under life support. Today after a period of five days, Villanueva remained unresponsive and passed away shortly after eleven this morning.

As to the driver of the vehicle, a sixteen year old minor, authorities are currently awaiting results of a post mortem examination on Villanueva’s body so that charges can be levied upon him.

CTV3 News understands that Shakira Villanueva has left behind two sons, ages eight and six and was reportedly pregnant with her third unborn child.

Wake and funeral arrangements are yet to be finalized.
