The other incident addressed by authorities in Belize City is the home invasion which occurred in Ranchito Village in the wee hours of Monday October 30th. U.S. nationals Michael and Janet McGhee who moved to Belize to live in Ranchito six years ago, woke up in the dark of night to find armed and masked burglars inside their home. The McGhees were tied up in their bedroom while the burglars swept through the house, packing up house items including Gateway, HP and Dell laptops, an Amazon fire tablet, a 50-inch LG plasma TV and a 32-inch TCL television, Janet McGee’s wedding ring and Michael McGee’s wedding band, and other jewellery on Michael McGhee’s silver-in-colour 2003 Dodge Ram pickup, before driving off. In total, they stole over $48,000. Police said today that they believe the culprits were not Corozal-based criminals.

“Yes again we are looking for three persons, two from Belize city and one from Hattie Ville, one of them was detained this morning and we are making arrangements for him to be transported to Corozal for him to be interviewed and questioned in regards to that aggravated burglary over there.”

As a result of the frightening incident, the McGhees have indicated they will be leaving Belize and returning to the United States.
