Summer has officially started and that means there will be host of summer activities in the Orange Walk and Corozal Districts. Here at CTV-3 News, we will do our part to keep track and highlight the events. Today we spoke to Corozal District Youth Officer Nekeisha Lima who shared the Department’s summer plans.

“We had started since yesterday with charcoal painting and we continue today as well, starting form one o’clock until three o’clock this evening and tomorrow we are going to finish off charcoal painting and we are going to start with beading from Wednesday until Friday from 1pm until 3pm and that is for this week. Nest week on the eleventh of July we will be having movie night in Patchakan Village because we want to meet our young people within Corozal and also in the communities starting at 4pm and on the 12th we have a movie night as well and this movie night will take place in San Andres village starting at 4:30pm as well. O the 13th of July which is next week we are having board games; chess games at the Department of Youth Services in Corozal. On the 18th to the 20th of July we will be having recycling camp where we going to make something out of nothing with young people within Corozal district and that’s going to take place from 1pm until 4:00 pm in the evening.  On the 24th to the 28th of July we have our personal development camp where we have different organizations coming in to our office talking to our young people in what they do with our young people, how they can help our young people and to educate them a little bit more on what each organization does, we want to give back to our community so we are going to have a cleanup campaign and we are collaborating with the child friendly committee that the town board has we are going to do a clean-up campaign we will be cleaning Consejo road. This entire month is full of activities for our young people in Corozal if you have nothing to do I’m inviting you guys to come out at the  Department of Youth Service Corozal and take part in this initiative, meet new people and learn something.”


The Department is also making plans for a Fun Day in Libertad Village. The activities are for young people between the ages 12 to 20. Anyone interested in registration can contact the Department at
