Screen_Shot_2017-05-10_at_8.17.29_PMWhile today’s defensive posture by former Immigration Minister Elvin Penner made his highly-anticipated appearance before the Senate hearing somewhat anti-climactic, there was a moment during the Senate meeting when sparks flew. This has to do with what appeared to be the eviction of UDP Chairman Alberto August, who showed up at the Senate hearing just before midday, but who only stayed briefly. August, who appeared very bothered by Senator Eamon Courtenay’s line of questioning, seemed unable to keep his composure and began distracting Senator Courtenay.

Courtenay would not have any of it and laid his foot down early, demanding that August be removed from the gallery. Just before the Chairman could announce his decision, August got up and left. Here’s how it all played out.

Senator Eamon Courtney – Member Special Senate Select Committee

“Will you answer the questions?”

Elvin Penner – Former Minister of Immigration and Nationality

“Am answering the question why I did what I did in terms of making the recommendations…”

Senator Eamon Courtney – Member Special Senate Select Committee

“Mr. Chairman, Mr. Chairman, Mr. Chairman, object, Mr. august up there is attempting to distract me and I just want him to be very clear he will get his turn to come down here and if he continues his behavior, see could you ask him to be removed he is sitting there pointing at me whenever I ask a question and I am not going to continue until he is removed, he is disturbing me.”

Aldo Salazar – Chairman special Senate Select Committee

“I didn’t see what you are referring to…”

Senator Eamon Courtney – Member Special Senate Select Committee

“He is disturbing me and I am asking you as chairman of the Committee to have him remove, I will not continue my question until he is removed and I have questions to ask.”

Aldo Salazar – Chairman Special Senate Select Committee

“Well, I don’t…”

Senator Eamon Courtney – Member Special Senate Select Committee

“See him there, watch…”

Aldo Salazar – Chairman Special Senate Select Committee

“I don’t know that there is no way you can precede if, Ok he decided to go…Continue Mr. Courtney.”

Senator Eamon Courtney – Member Special Senate Select Committee

“Thank you, Mr. Penner I want to go further rand suggest to you.”

Screen_Shot_2017-05-10_at_8.17.42_PMThere is much more to report on Penner’s appearance at today’s Senate hearing including his new and stunning admission that he has never met Won Hong Kim in Belize, even though all this while he has claimed that he personally took a man he knew as Kim to the Immigration office to process his passport application. We’ll have more on this and other revelations in tomorrow’s newscast.
