noimages31 year old Ismael Villanueva appeared before the Magistrate’s Court in Corozal on Monday morning to answer to a charge of possession of controlled drugs. Villanueva, according to the Police, was seen riding a bicycle on the morning of Sunday May 7th when he was stopped and searched by the authorities.

On one of his pants pockets, the Police say they found some green leafy substance and so they detained Villanueva and escorted him to the Police Station. There, they confirmed that the green leafy substance is marijuana and weighed 5.3 grams.

In Court, Villanueva did not deny the allegations and pleaded guilty. He remained silent when Magistrate Patricia Arana asked him if he had anything to say.

With that Magistrate Arana fined him $250 pus $5 cost of court, which must be paid by July 15th or in default Villanueva will face four months in prison.
