Screen_Shot_2017-04-19_at_7.39.21_PMOver the past few weeks, the Belize Police Department has given the Belizean public much to talk about, but not in a good way. Instead they have been receiving numerous negative reviews due to exposure of wrong doing. Viewers may recall that the first public embarrassment came from a video which showed police officers in San Pedro manhandling a woman and firing shots in the crowd. The second came from Orange Walk police officers who were caught red-handed unloading stocks of contraband goods. And then Corozal Cops being charged for evading Custom Officers at the Northern Border and also being involved in the illegal act of contraband.

And tonight we can tell you that the department has suffered yet another public humiliation as Women Police Constable #1241 Ann Marie Anthony has also been placed on interdiction after she was charged with ‘theft’. According to official reports, a 58 year old Chinese Businesswoman reported to authorities that on Friday April 14th, 2017, a group of police officers entered her business establishment known as ‘Little Red Shop’ in Santa Elena, Cayo to conduct a search of liquor.

She told police that after the search had been conducted, the officers seized several assorted liquors and then left the establishment. She later realized that BZ $200 had been missing from her cash register. The businesswoman then told police that after reviewing the surveillance, she witnessed a female officer removing monies from the cash box.

An immediate investigation was launched into the matter which resulted in the identification of WPC Anthony. She was charged with the crime of ‘theft’ and has since been placed on interdiction (as mentioned earlier). We understand that Anthony will be additionally be charged for ‘Prejudice to good order and discipline’.
